Mrs. Klaas Boote, Hull, Passes Away

Mrs. Klaas Boote, 74, of Hull passed away in her home Monday. The funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, in the First Christian Reformed Church of Hull, with Rev. R. L. Haan officiating.

Mrs. Boote is survived by four children, Jack Boote of Worthington, John Boote of Hull, Mrs. Alice Van Veldhuizen of Rock Valley, and William Boote of New Jersey.

Mrs. Klaas Boote Buried Here Last Week Thursday

The funeral services for Mrs. K. Boote who passed away suddenly last Monday night, was held Thursday, August 8th at 1:30 o’clock from the home and at 2:00 o’clock from the Christian Reformed Church of Hull—Dr. R. L. Haan officiating assisted by Rev. G. H. Douwstra. Interment was in Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. K. Boote, nee Johanna Petronella Bel, was born September 27, 1866, at Ke-----[blurred], South Holland. She was married to Klaas Boote September 27, 1895. To this union three children were born, of which one preceded her in death. In the year 1903 they emigrated to the United States and settled at Hull, Iowa, where she lived until her death on August 5, 1940.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, K. Boote, two children—Mrs. T. Van Veldhuizen of Rock Valley and William Boote of Ridgewood, New Jersey—and two stepsons—John W. Boote of Hull and Jack Boote of Worthington, Minnesota – and 15 grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. L. Heemskerk, and a brother, Peter Bell, both of Hull.

Boote) has Johanna Boote, wife of Klas Boote; born Sept. 27, 1866 in Holland; parents William Bell and Menike De Koster; resident of Hull 31 years; died at 9:46 p.m. August 5, 1940; cause, cardiac decompensation, duration 1 day, due to pyelitis and colitis, duration 6 days; buried in Hope Cemetery, Hull.

Her FindaGrave.com page has Johanna Petronella Bel Boote, born 27 Sep 1867 in Kedichem, Leerdam Municipality, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands; died 5 Aug 1940 in Hull, buried in Hope Cemetery. Mother Maaike DeKoster Bel Van Duyn (1847-1918). Two siblings listed: Anna Bell Heemskerk (1878-1963) and Peter John Bell (1883-1967). Husband Klaas Boote (1866-1944, married 1895). Three children listed: Jack C. Boote (1893-1985), Alice Boote Van Veldhuizen (1903-1962), William Boote (1906-1967). There is a photo of the joint headstone of Johanna and Klaas (on which her birth year is 1866).

The 1910 U.S. census for Hull has Claus Boote (43) married 14 years, second marriage, an odd jobs laborer; wife Johanna (43), first marriage, mother of 5 children, 4 living; children John (19), Allis (6), and William (3); all immigrated from Holland in 1909.
