From the Hawarden Independent, January 17, 1985:

Albert Henry Lindenman, 93, of Forest Grove, OR, formerly of Ireton, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 1984. Services were at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in the Fuiten Mortuary Chapel in Forest Grove.

Mr. Lindenman was born Dec. 22, 1891, in Ireton. He married Edith Anna La Moine Stake at Van Couver, WA, on Jan. 29, 1942. They made their home in Van Couver until retirement. They then moved to Forest Grove.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Marguerite) Gutherie, Van Couver; and Mrs. Vernon (Mildred) Adams of Quartzite, AZ, two sisters, Rose M. Yates of Hawarden and Clara Woods of McAlester, OK. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.

Albert H. Lindenman, 92, a longtime resident of Forest Grove, died Sunday in a Vancouver, Wash., convalescent center. Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, in the Fuiten Mortuary Chapel in Hillsboro.

Mr. Lindenman was born in Ireton, Iowa, and moved to Forest Grove in 1934. A veteran of World War I, he served in the Army in France. He was involved in farming in Forest Grove and during World War II worked as a crop checker in Washington.

He is survived by two daughters, Marguerite Guthrie of Vancouver, Wash., and Mildred Adams of Arizona; and two sisters, Rose M. Yates of Hawarden, Iowa, and Clara Woods of McAllister, Okla.

The Washington, U.S., Death Index on Ancestry.com has Albert H. Lindenman, age 92, born about 1892, died 16 Dec 1984 in Vancouver, Washington.

His FindaGrave.com page has Albert Henry Lindenman, born 22 Dec 1892 in Ireton, Sioux County, Iowa; died 16 Dec 1984 in Vancouver, Washington; buried in Forest View Cemetery, Forest Grove, Washington County, Oregon. Parents Emil Adolph Lindenman (1866-1951) and Clara Susanna Hamilton Lindenman (1866-1939). Seven siblings listed. Wives Elizabeth Vial Taylor Lindenman (1895-1940) and Edith Ann LeMoine Lindenman (1889-1983). One child listed: Isabel E. Lindenman Theodorff (1916-1941). There is a photo of his headstone, giving his life dates as 1891-1984, and a photo of him in his World War I uniform.

The obituary posted on Edith Lindenman’s FindaGrave page does not mention a first husband but does list one surviving daughter, Marguerite Guthrie of Lake Oswego, possibly with Albert but more likely with her first husband. (Albert and his first wife did not have a daughter named Marguerite.)

The 1910 U.S. census shows Albert H. Lindenman (age 18) living in Reading Township, Sioux County, with his parents Emil, born in Switzerland, a farmer, and Clara, born in Illinois, and his siblings.

The 1930 U.S. census shows Albert (38), Lizzie (37) and daughters Isabelle (14) and Mildred (8) farming in Center Township, Sioux County (where they had also lived in 1925). The 1940 census shows Albert H. and Elizabeth V. Lindenman farming in Dilley, Washington County, Oregon, where they had also lived in 1935.

The Sioux County marriage register for 1917/1918 has groom Albert H. Lindenman, age 27, resident of Ireton, a farmer, born in Ireton, parents E. A. Lindenman and Clara Hamilton; bride Lizzie Vial Taylor, age 23, resident of Ireton, born in Ireton, parents Frank Taylor and Elizabeth Vial; married in Ireton December 25, 1917.

The marriage application records for Clark County, Washington on Ancestry.com have a page for Albert H. Lindenman, Forest Grove, Oregon, widowed, a farmer, parents E. A. Lindenman, born in Switzerland, and Clara Hamilton, born in Illinois; and Edith Anna Le Moine Stake, residence Forest Grove, Ore., divorced, born in South Dakota, parents Freeman Le Moine and Zella Cullomba, both born in Canada; application date 26 January 1942. A brief announcement in the Hawarden Independent (12 Feb 1942) says they were married at Vancouver on January 29.

The U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File on Ancestry.com has an index entry for Albert Henry Lindenman, born 22 Dec 1891, died 16 Dec 1984, enlistment date 28 Jul 1918, discharge date 12 Jun 1919. His World War I draft registration card (June 1917) shows him (age 25), single, working for his father as a farmer in Ireton; medium height and build, light brown eyes, dark brown hair. His World War II draft registration card (April 1942) shows him a resident of Route 1, Forest Grove, Oregon, a farmer; person who will always know his address is Mrs. A. E. Alexander, Forest Grove; height 5 ft. 3-1/2 in., weight 140 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair, ruddy complexion, scar on chin.
