OBITUARY OF B. N. DOHERTY

B. N. Doherty of Clarion Passes Away Thursday
Bernard N. Doherty for a for a long time resident of Rock Valley, passed away last Thursday evening at the age of 73, after having been in ill health for some time.

He was born on July 18, 1870 in Lyons, Clinton County, Iowa. When a young man, he came to Sioux County where the family made their home near Maurice. He lived there several years, and in 1807 was untied in marriage to Sarah Linnan.

Two daughters were born to this union, Ellen of Baltimore, Md., and Genevieve (Mrs. Leo Porter) of Clarion, Iowa. His wife passed away in 1909. In 1928, Mr. Doherty left the farm here, and has spent most of the time with his daughter, Mrs. Leo Porter at Clarion.

Besides his daughters he is survived by one brother, D.J. Doherty of Maurice.

Pallbearers were: F. T. McGill, Frank O’Meara, John Weimer, John Fitzgerald, Walter McNamara, and Tom Higgins.

Out of town people who attended the funeral, besides the immediate relatives were: Rev. Fathers O’Donnell and Thornton, both of Clarion, who assisted the Rev. Father McGoey, at the funeral services; Mrs. D. J. Doherty, Mr. and Mrs. Murat Doherty, Mr. and Mrs. Linnan and Josie Linnan all of Maurice, Mrs. Fox of Cheyenne Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. Roy Degan of Le Mars; Mrs. Elizabeth Doherty and Patrick of Luverne, MN; Mr and Mrs. Bernie Doherty and Dick of Alvord; and Mrs. Lilly O’Donnell of Clarion.
