His death certificate no. 1934-MN-009743 (informant Margaret Meyer) shows him born February 10, 1849 in Germany; parents Peter Meyer and Catherine Heiderbreck[?]; widowed, wife Eva Burke Meyer; retired farmer; died at Adrian at 2 a.m. January 21, 1934; cause, bronchial pneumonia.

His FindaGrave.com page has Carl Meyer, born 1849 in Germany, died 1934 in Iowa, buried in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Granville, Sioux County, Iowa. Wife Eva Burg Meyer (1852-1890, married 1873). Three children listed: Margaret Meyer (1876-1971), Kathren Meyer (1878-1958), and Henry W. Meyer (1884-1953). Notes added to the page (contributor’s name not given) add three other children: Nicholas (born 1874), John (born 1875), and Michael (born January 1880), and give Margaret’s birth year as 1877. There is a photo of the joint headstone of Carl and Eva Meyer.

The Minnesota Official Marriage System (MOMS) has an entry for Carl Meier and Eva Burg, married 24 Feb 1873 at Caledonia, Houston County, Minnesota.

The 1880 U.S. census shows the Meyer family – Charles (born in Prussia), Eva (born in Luxemburg), and children Nickolas (6), born in Minnesota, and John (5), Margaret (3), Kate (2), and Michael (5/12), all born in Iowa – farming in Caledonia, O’Brien County, Iowa. The obituary of his wife Eva (posted separately) shows her to have died in December 1890 while they were residents of Granville, Sioux County. The family moved from Granville to Nobles County, Minnesota, where Carl had rented a farm, early in 1898 (Alton Democrat, March 5, 1898). In 1900 the family was farming in Westside, Nobles County, and Carl (whose name is mangled) is shown as born Jan. 1848 in Germany, immigrated in 1857.
