Keith Pollema son of Bill and Tena (Vander Werff) Pollema was born May 9, 1947, in LeMars, Iowa. He was raised in the Hull, Iowa area where he also received his education from Hull Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School. On October 29, 1966, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Feil at Kassel Reformed Church in Lincoln Valley, North Dakota.
Keith was employed at Koyker Mfg. the year before he enlisted into the United States Army, where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1968.
He was a member of the Christian Reformed Churches in Hull, Iowa, Rock Valley, Iowa (where he served as a deacon and as an elder) and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The faith he had in his Lord and Savior was a true and living example to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family was very dear to him and he loved spending time with them.
Keith had a very strong work ethic and it showed in his willingness to help and serve others. One example was his kindness in serving at “The Banquet” in Sioux Falls. Keith and Carol raised their family near Rock Valley, Iowa working hard together owning and operating Pollema Mfg., and K&C Men’s Wear. He also farmed for many years and raised hogs and cow/calf pairs. Keith also drove truck for TeSlaa Trucking. Keith was later employed at Van Zee Enterprises before he and Carol retired to Sioux Falls. His hobbies included golfing, boating, and riding his Harley. His giving spirit also led to his volunteering on the EMT and Fire Fighting squads. He was a longtime member of the American Legion.
