Linda Rensink age 76 of Sioux Center, IA, died Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

A prayer service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, December 28th at the First Reformed Church. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 28th at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, IA, with Rev. Stephen Breen officiating. Livestream link for Linda's service: Linda Rensink Service

Visitation will be Monday, December 27th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Memorials may be directed to the Sioux Center Health Foundation and/or Northwestern College.

Linda Rensink was born March 1, 1945, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the daughter of Gerrit and Lena (Bruinsma) Van Putten. She was raised in Sioux Center and attended Sioux Center Community Schools. She graduated from high school in 1963. She began working as a receptionist for Orange City Telephone Company, and a short time later, began working for Mutual Telephone Company in Sioux Center.

Linda was united in marriage to Merlyn G. Rensink on August 16, 1966, at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. They lived on an acreage near Merlyn’s parents’ home. In 1968, Merlyn was activated with the 185th unit of the U.S. Air Force National Guard out of Sioux City, Iowa and was sent to South Korea. During this time Linda moved into Sioux Center. She was a homemaker from 1968 to 1979. At that time, the Rensink family accepted the custodial duties at First Reformed Church. They served as custodians for the next 10 years. She then began working at Sioux Center Health, working her way to the position of Dietary Manager, totaling 10 years of service. Next, she worked as a receptionist for Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica. Her most recent job was working for American State Investment & Trust, retiring in 2012.

She was a lifetime member of the First Reformed Church, and active in various church activities. She enjoyed cooking and baking and visiting family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who always put her faith and family first. She had a gift for knowing when words of encouragement were needed for her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Merlyn Rensink of Sioux Center, IA; three children, Mark D. (Pamela) Rensink of Sioux Center, IA, Michelle (Darwin) Ten Haken of West Des Moines, IA and Jane (Ryan) Wehrman of Laurel, IA; ten grandchildren: Megan (Ryan) Davis, Paige Rensink, Taylor (Drew) Kortlever, Tanner Rensink, Isaiah Rensink, Paisley Rensink, Zach (Katie)Ten Haken, Collin (Britta) Ten Haken, Lucy Wehrman and Ross Wehrman; five great-grandchildren, Ada Grace and Molly Ten Haken, Merrick Ten Haken, Maddox and Beckham Davis; two sisters, Everna (John) Vermaat and Shirley (Bill) Muilenburg, both of Orange City, IA; two sisters-in-law, Delma Vander Schaaf of Sioux Center, IA and Karen (Harm) Oldenkamp of Lakeland, FL; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerrit and Lena Van Putten; brother, Evert Rajoan who died in infancy, parents-in-law, Marinus and Bertha Rensink; and a brother-in-law, Donald Vander Schaaf.
