Rock Valley, IA: Connie Sue Mayfield, 81, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley. Private family services will be held at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Connie Sue (Owen) Mayfield, daughter of Kenneth H. and Winifred D. (Francis) Owen, was born July 18, 1940 in McPherson, Kansas. Connie and her family later moved to Colorado. She married Gene Mayfield at Fort Morgan, Colorado on June 18, 1965. The couple made their home in Colorado until moving to Rock Valley, Iowa in 2018. Connie enjoyed working as a teacher’s aide for several years. She spent most of her years helping in the second grade classroom.

Connie loved to knit, bake, listen to books on tape, and play card games. She always had an open door for her family and friends to come and visit.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gene; 3 children, Ken (Kerry) Mayfield, Lisa (John) Driesen, and Kerry (Marc) Williams; 7 grandchildren, Justin (Nicole) Shenk, Audra (Justin) Golson, Bridgette (Kenny) Brown, Jared Driesen, Joe Behr, Rylee Williams, and Gracie Williams; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Connie in death were her parents, Kenneth and Winifred; and 2 brothers, Mike Owen and Ronnie Owen.
