Translated;
Saturday, Mr. C. De Groot as a result of a long period of disablement. The patient suffered from hardening of the blood veins, and a stroke made an end to his life. The deceased was born May 11, 1864 in the Netherlands. At the age of 28 he came to America and lived in Rock Valley and Orange city: the last 30 years he lived in the Sioux Center, where he ran the business of blacksmith, first in partnership with T. Bolluyt and later alone. In February of the previous year he handed over the work to his son because of physical weakness and has been more or less ailing ever since. The deceased is survived by his wife and seven children: Mrs. Mary Van Andel; Mrs. Lyda Bulthuis of Watertown SD; Henry, Edward of Hull; Nellie, Gertrude and Anna. Furthermore, a sister, Mrs. C. Swier from Rock Valley, and two brothers, Ed and John in the Netherlands. The funeral took place on Tuesday from the First Chr. Ref church headed or Rev. Hylkema from Orange City.

Children were - Marie De Groot 1890, Alika Bulthuis 1894, Henry 1896, Eva 1899, Edward 1899, Nellie 1903 Gertrude Willemstyn 1903 and Anna 1906.
