Mrs. Florence Kooreman received a message notifying her of the death Saturday of her father, J. W. Hilbelink, of Minneapolis. Mrs. Kooreman accompanied her sister, Mrs. Tom Linnan and Mr. Linnen of Maurice to Minneapolis Monday. Funeral services for Mr. Hilbelink, a pioneer resident of Hospers, were held Tuesday in Minneapolis where Mr. and Mrs. Hilbelink have lived for some years.

Rites for John W. Hilbelink, 85, 3120 Oliver avenue N., will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Billman mortuary. Burial in Mound cemetery, Brooklyn Center. Surviving are the widow; six daughters, Mrs. D. J. Vincent of Jamestown, N.D., Mrs. Florence Cooreman of Alton, Iowa, Mrs. Rosella Wolfe of Milwaukee, Mrs. Hal Smith of Minneapolis, Mrs. Frank Benson of Watertown, Wis., and Mrs. Thomas Linnan of Maurice, Iowa, and a son, Jacob of Minneapolis.

Hilbelink; wife Agnes Hilbelink; born March 3, 1853 in Wisconsin; parents Garrett Hilbelink and Gertrude Debuckle, both born in Holland; a carpenter for 60 years, last worked in 1930; died at 3120 Oliver Ave. N., Minneapolis (his residence) at 4 a.m. July 30, 1938; causes: arteriosclerosis, duration 3 [months?], and [cardiac?] insufficiency, duration 1 year; contributory cause: senile dementia, duration 6 [months?].

Parents Gerrit Jan Hilbelink (1813-1898) and Gerritjen TeBokkel Hilbelink (1820-1912. Seven siblings listed. Wife Aagje Koolbeck Hilbelink (1864-1952, married 1883). Children: Gertrude Hilbelink Vincent (1884-1964), Jacob James Hilbelink (1885-1885), Florence Hilbelink Kooreman (1886-1978), Rosella Mae Hilbelink Wolf (1889-1940), James Jacob Hilbelink (1891-1983), Sara Sadie Hilbelink Smith (1893-1985), Winifred Henrietta Hilbelink Bentzin (1896-1968), and Lillian Ruth Hilbelink Martin (1898-1962).

The Sioux County marriage register for 1882/1883 has groom Jan Willem Hilbelink, age 30, residence Hospers, a carpenter, born in Wisconsin, parents Gerrit Jan Hilbelink and Gerritje Tammel; bride Aagje Koolbeek, age 20, residence Hospers, born in Pella, Iowa, parents Jacob Koolbeek and Floria Sipma; married at Hospers, June 19, 1883.
