Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. R. Dykstra their oldest son, a child of 9 years through death, a spinal disease. The funeral took place on Wednesday. Our sympathy is with the hard-tested parents, who have repeatedly had losses.
Parents in 1910 census lists Richard Dykstra 32 and wife Dena 23 with son John born about 1908.

Research note: Rinze Jans ‘Richard’ Dijkstra born 14 Nov 1877 Leeuwarden, Friesland Netherlands. Wife was Alberdena ‘Dena’ Van Putten born 24 May 1886 Sioux Center died 12 Jun 1959 Sioux Center, IA.
They had children – Johnny 1908 – 1917, Gerrit William Dijkstra 1911-1985, Edna 1913-2001, Johnnie 1917-1918, Joan 1919-2008, John 1924-2005.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Van't Kerkhoff went to Sioux Center on Wednesday to attend the funeral of the 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Dykstra. The child died as a result of la grippe.
