Tetanus Causes Death
Reka Noteboom, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Noteboom, northwest of Rock Rapids, died in a Sioux Falls Hospital Wednesday of last week as a result of tetanus, the injury having been received a week previous, when the young lady was struck in the cheek by the tooth of a spreader. The accident happened Thursday, April 26, and as the same appeared to be serious, she was taken to the Sioux Falls Hospital on the Following Saturday. She was given the best of attention, but after the lapse of four days tetanus developed in a severe from and she passed away Wednesday afternoon. The remains were brought here on Thursday and taken to Steen, where funeral services were held on Friday in the Reformed church by Rev. Bosch. The remains were interred in the German cemetery two miles east of Steen. She was 14 years of age, and had lived in this neighborhood with ther parents for the past few years.

1910 census of Welcome Tsp. Sioux County IA lists Arie Noteboom born about 1858 Holland wife Gretchen born 1871 Holland Children John 15, Henry 13, Gerrit 11, Rieka 7, Cornelius 6 and Lubbert 2.

Research note: Parents were Arie Noteboom 1857 – 1925 buried at Sioux Center, IA, see his obit and mother was Grietje Niessink
