Obituary

In the afternoon of the 9th of May it was the Lord's duty on my part to take away my loved ones Husband and the caring father of the children, Lambert Manden, who was nearly 48 years old. We thank all the friends and neighbors for their sympathy and assistance during the illness and the suffering of my members, Mn. Mrs. L. Manden and Children Sioux Center IA, May 14, 1917

After having been ill for quite some time, Mr. L. Manden lost. Week Wednesday afternoon the temporary with the eternal. He was still 48 years old in the prime of life. On Saturday the remains were taken to the grave. The service was held in the church building of the 2nd Reformed Church, headed by Rev. Haverkamp. The deceased has left a widow and three girls behind, of which the oldest is 18 and the youngest 6 years old. We express our condolences with the mothers and the children in the loss that will undoubtedly be deeply felt by them.

Research note: From a family report on line (done by others) Lambert Jan Manden was born 5 Oct 1868 Assen, Drenthe, Netherlands died 9 May 1917 Sioux Center IA. His parents were Jan Manden 46 and Geesje Everts. His wife was Kate Van Dyk 1876-1954. Two children listed were Grace Manden 1900-1931 and Rena Manden 1903-1980
