From the Alton Democrat, September 2, 1938, Granville news:

A baby daughter, Germaine Rose, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Niichel at the Sacred Heart hospital in Le Mars Thursday, Aug. 23. The baby passed away a few hours after birth and was buried at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Granville Wednesday. She is survived by her parents and a little sister, Annette.

Kokenge Niichel (1914-2007). There is a photo of the joint headstone of Germaine and William (1904-1908) Niichel.

Her death certificate has her as Germaine Neichel; parents Henry Neichel and Maurina Kokenge; born August 23, died at 2:05 a.m. August 24, 1938; principal cause of death, prematurity.

Family information in the St. Joseph’s church register for Henry Niichel and Maurine Kokenge state that they lost an infant son Germaine.
