Mrs. Anita Hofland, age 65, of Hospers, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, January 22, at 10:30am, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. John Klompien will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Anita Jane was born on August 26, 1955, in Orange City, the daughter of Earl and Wilma (Van Oort) Vaas. She was raised on a farm near Newkirk and graduated from the Floyd Valley High School in Alton. Later in life, she attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, where she earned her dental assistant certificate in 2002.

She was united in marriage to Charles Wade Hofland on January 24, 1974, in Newkirk and made their home in Hospers, where they raised their family. In addition to being a wife and mother, Anita had been employed at the Orange City Hospital, Joiner Family Dentistry, and the Staples Outlet Store, all in Orange City.

Anita was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, where she had participated in various activities and groups. She particularly enjoyed her time as a shepherd. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking, especially birthday cakes and cupcakes. She also liked to travel, attend her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, and helping to care for her mother.

Survivors include her husband of more than 46 years, Charles Hofland, of Hospers; her three children and their spouses, Angela and Nathan Pellow, of Los Angeles, California, and their children, Carter Anderson, Logan and Lucas Pellow; Wade and Joslyn Hofland, of Orange City, and their children, Jackson, Hannah, Haley, and Sophia Hofland; and Brandon and Sarah Hofland, of Sioux Center, and their children, Hunter, Olivia, Tineka, and Cooper Hofland; her mother, Wilma Vaas, of Orange City; a brother and his wife, Brent and Glenda Vaas, of Hull; a brother-in-law, Milt Wissink, of Orange City; a nephew and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Vaas; and a sister-in-law, Mary Wissink.
