Funeral services for Mr. Tiete Van Bruggen of Ireton were held at the Christian Reformed church in Ireton Wednesday afternoon, Sept 1, and burial was in Orange City.
Mr. Van Bruggen passed away Sunday, August 29, following an operation and an illness of only two weeks. He had reached the age of 70 years, one month and seven days. He was born on July 23, 1884, in Ten Boer Groningen, Netherlands, and came to America in 1905. He was untied in marriage to Jennie Sleikers at Orange City on February 29, 1908, and to this union 12 children were born, of which nine survive. They are Henry of Ireton; Dena, Mrs. Wayne Reinking of Maurice; Wilsom of Chicago IL., Arie of Ireton; Tracy, Mrs. John S. Van Der Schaaf of Sioux Center; Alice, Mrs. Clifford Reinking of Maurice; Josephine, Mrs. Jake B. Vande Griend, and Theodore, both of Orange City; and Albert of Hawarden. Mr. Van Bruggen was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie, on July 6, 1931, and three children Cora, Mrs. William Peuse, in 1939, Arie in 1909 and Alice in 1918.
He was married to Mrs. Allie Kuiken of Maurice on August 23, 1937. he farmed in the Maurice and Ireton vicinity until his retirement in Ireton in December, 1944.
He is further survived by his wife and seven step children, 47 grandvhildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters Trentje Mrs. William Vegter of Sanborn, and Joukie, Mrs. Hendrick Van Der Leist, and one brother, John, both of the Netherlands.
