Herman (Cope) Van Eldik, 81, of Rock Valley died Monday, March 21, at St. Luke's Regional Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

He was born May 17, 1901, at Rock Valley and graduated from Rock Valley High School. He married Elizabeth Vermeer on Sept. 17, 1937. She died March 10,1981. He worked as a carpenter and auctioneer and was part-owner of Rock Valley Sales Company.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Gerrit (Margaret) Harmelink,
Rock Valley and Mrs. David (Ardelle) Lieux, Miami, Fla.

Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery. Family visitation was from 7:30 to. 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Porter Funeral Chapel in Rock Valley.
