CARL HOFLAND
Carl Hofland, 69, of Sheldon passed away at the Orange City hospital Sunday morning from a malignancy Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Temple Mortuary at Sheldon
Mr Hofland was a son of the late Mr and Mrs. John Hofland of Orange City. Born in Des Moines he came with his parents as a lad of seven to Orange City.
In l9l9 he went to be with the Flindt and Miller Clothing Co. in Sheldon and later became partner and manager of the Flindt and Miller Clothing Co. in Sheldon and Sibley. In 1942 Mr. Hofland suffered a nearly fatal car accident and was forced to give up his work because of the injures he received. Subsequently the Flindt and Miller partnership was dissolved. Mr Hofland then went into commercial art which continued until the time of his illness.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs S. Schroeder of Tewkabury. Mass. and one sister, Mrs Ellsworth De Jong of Orange City, IA.
Mrs Hofland preceded him in death in 1941, a sister Kathryn, 17, and a brother, John died many years ago.
