Mother of Hawarden Man Dies
Mrs. K. Velgersdyk of Rock Valley passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Kersbergen, Sunday, May 26th, her death being due to infirmities of old age. Mrs. Velgersdyk was born at Pernis, Holland, Dec. 25, 1850, and so was past 84 years of age at the time of her death. She came to America in 1904 with her family and they located at Rock Valley. She is survived by three sons and three daughters, Mrs. H. Vande Sande, Mrs. John Kersbergen and William. Velgersdyk of Rock Valley; Nick Velgersdyk of Hawarden; Mrs. R. Vermjilm of Valier, Mont., and John Velgersdyk of Hull. Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church at Rock Valley on Wednesday of last week. Nick Velgersdyk -moved his family to Hawarden recently. He is employed in the Hawarden steam mill, assisting in getting the plant ready for operation this summer.
