Funeral services: Friday, July 26, 2013, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA; Pastor Steve Chellew officiated. Burial was in the Arlington Heights Cemetery, Audubon, IA.

Survived by: Children, Philip (spouse, Elaine) Miller of Harlan, IA, Patricia (spouse, Dave) Sorensen of Dexter, IA, Steven (spouse, Sue) Miller of Bettendorf, IA, and Annette (spouse, Rick “Stick”) Anderson of Harlan, IA; sister, Palma Williams of Altoona, IA; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Niels and Kjerstine (nee Olesen) Madsen; sisters, Anna Sorensen, Edith Long, Lillie Nielsen, and Vina Ritter

Education: completed elementary school west of Audubon, IA; obtained her GED in 1968; later attended nurses’ aid training at the Eventide Home in Denison, IA

Marriage: Cecil Gerald Miller, Oct. 30, 1942, Maryville, MO

Employment: after receiving her training, she was employed as a nurses’ aide at Eventide Home in Denison, IA, as well as the Colonial Manor in Odebolt, IA; retired in 1976 and moved to Harlan, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Bethel Lutheran Church, Kiron, IA; enjoyed tending to her flower garden, watching birds, and enjoying nature.
