Funeral services: Monday, March 15, 2004, Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home, Harlan, IA; Pastor Heather Ploen of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA, officiated. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, IA.

Survived by: Wife of 55 years, Alvera Cox of Harlan, IA; son, Morris Cox (spouse, Kathy) of Audubon, IA; daughter, Lyn (spouse, Richard) Hansen of Audubon, IA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Cabel and Nannie (nee Cox) Cox; brothers, Gale Cox, Robert Cox, Rex Cox, Emmitt Cox, Vance Cox, one infant brother

Education: attended schools in Grassy Creek, NC

Marriage: Alvera Marie Petersen, Dec. 19, 1948, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Cordova, NE.

Employment: Before his marriage, he was employed as a lineman for the telegraph department of the railroad in York, Nebraska; after his marriage, the couple farmed in Nebraska for a few years before moving to Kimballton, Iowa and buying a farm there. They retired from farming in 1994 and moved to Harlan, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed farming; after his retirement, he liked doing yard work and gardening.
