Survived by: Wife of 59 years, Carol Rixen of Harlan, IA; son, Steven (spouse, Sandra) Rixen of Hudson, WI; daughter, Elizabeth Rixen of Olathe, KS; brother, Walter (spouse, Helen) Rixen of Waukon, IA; brother-in-law, Gene Obrecht of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Matthew Rixen and Kristofor Rixen; other relatives and friends

Marriage: Carol Mae Channon, July 9, 1944, Harlan, IA

Employment: Owner, Rixen Real Estate and Insurance; in the 1960’s, he was the local Civil Defense officer; this led to him selling his insurance business in 1971 and becoming the Resource Management Officer with the Iowa State Department of Civil Defense. He was later with the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) program. After returning to the real estate business for a few years, he retired in 1989.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Congregational United Church of Christ, Harlan, IA; active member, Parian Lodge 321 AF & AM, Olivet Chapter #107, Adelphia Council #4, Mt. Zion Commandery #49 of Harlan, the Order of Eastern Star, Lebanon Chapter #8, the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple of Sioux City, Iowa, and the Harlan Shrine T-Patrol. Past-president, Harlan Kiwanis, and had previously served as Lt. Governor of Kiwanis District 12; member, Harlan Golden K. Glen was an avid British sports car enthusiast, owning and restoring his own cars.
