Employment: After she left school, Gertrude worked as a hired girl and, later, did housecleaning. In the 1960s, she cleaned Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA., and the parsonage.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA, where she was baptized on Nov. 7, 1948. Gertrude was active in the Neighborhood Club, enjoyed polka music and watched professional wrestling. Gertrude also enjoyed embroidering, making quilt blocks, playing Bingo, canning, baking, playing cards, and gardening.
