Funeral services: Wednesday, May 11, 2005, Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home, Harlan, IA; Pastor Kevin Nelson and Rev. Frosty VanVoorst officiated. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Kimballton, IA, with military rites performed by the AMVETS.

Survived by: Wife of 57 years, Lucille Evans of Kimballton, IA; sons, John (spouse, Kay) Evans of Richland, IA, Charles Evans of Placitas, NM, Jerry (spouse, Tracie) Evans of Elk Horn, IA, and Randy (spouse, Cindy) Evans of Cleveland, OH; brother, Gerald Evans of Atlantic, IA; sisters, Jane Clemsen of Excelsior Springs, MO, Dexter Sorensen of Harlan, IA, and Grace Ann (spouse, Jack) Knudsen of Harlan, IA; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Thomas Lee and Alta Grace (nee Plumb) Evans; stepmother, Helen Evans; sister, Arlene Nelson

Education: attended Harlan, IA. schools

Military service: 1944 – 1947: U. S. Army, stationed in AK after the end of WWII

Marriage: Lucille Ann Jessen, Feb. 24, 1948, Bentonville, AR

Employment: After marriage, they farmed in Shelby Co., IA; lived in California for a number of years before relocating back to Iowa; Ed was employed as a heavy equipment operator, working in road and bridge construction. He retired in 1985 due to injury.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, AMVETS; Ed proudly and faithfully flew his flag every day. He loved to garden, both flowers and vegetables.
