Employment: After leaving school, Howard worked on a Missouri horse farm. Later employed as a heavy equipment operator, he helped build pipelines around the country, including the Alaska pipeline.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Local #150 Operating Engineers Union; enjoyed woodworking.
