Died: Dec. 7, 2007, Mercy Hospice, Johnston, IA; cause: ovarian cancer

Funeral services: Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home, Harlan, IA; Pastor Steve Chellew of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan, IA, officiated. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery.

Survivors: Daughters, Arlene Christensen of Altoona, IA, Mary Jean (spouse, Kevin) Sowell of Kansas City, MO; sister, Rose Totten of Olney, IL; grandchildren, Mary Ann (spouse, Victor H.) Pecina, and Eric (spouse, Jennifer) South, both of Kansas City; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo and Victor S. Pecina of Kansas City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Predeceased by: Parents, Vaclav and Rose Smrkovsky; four brothers and one sister

Education: Clarkson (NE) High School, Class of 1934

Marriage: Roy L. Christensen, Jan. 23, 1946, Papillion, NE

Employment: Before her marriage, Lillian worked in various garment factories, including making tents for World War II. After her marriage, she worked with her husband, farming and gardening.

Hobbies/Interests: Enjoyed cooking, baking, and watching game shows on TV. After her husband passed, Lillian created the Roy and Lillian Christensen Scholarship for agricultural education at Harlan High School in Harlan, IA.
