Survived by: Husband of 68 years, Clarence “Short” Cushing of Shelby, IA; son, Barry (spouse, Carol) Cushing of Meridian, ID; daughter, Judy (spouse, George) Huckins of Kansas City, MO; sister, Dorothy (spouse, Lewis) Muzzy of Spring Valley, CA; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends

Employment: For 4 years, Darlene worked at the Haskel Meat Locker in Shelby, IA
Hobbies/Interests: active member, United Lutheran Church, Shelby, IA; she had served as a Sunday school teacher and held various offices in the Church Ladies group. She was a frugal and hardworking homemaker, a good cook known for her delicious jams, jellies, and cucumber “stickles.” With her husband, they grew and sold high quality black walnut meats and raspberries.
