Survived by: step-daughter, Jean (spouse, Jerry) Aukland of CA; sister, Bernadine (spouse, Virgil) Wiley of Manilla, IA; step-grandchildren, Michael Aukland, Diane Conklin, Janet Berry, and Peggy Ridley; 7 step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends

Military service: 1941 – 1946: U. S. Navy, spending most of his time in the South Pacific

Marriage: Marie Anna Nielsen, Nov. 9, 1963, Blair, NE

Employment: After his military service, he was employed for 15 years as a janitor for Harlan High School; then worked 17 years for the Harlan Post Office as a custodian. Retired in 1978.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Harlan, IA; member, Harlan VFW Post 941; member, Helmer Reyelt AL Post 150. Liked to read the National Geographic magazine, feed the squirrels, travel and dine out with family; loved telling jokes and riddles.
