Funeral services: Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, Grace Baptist Church, Harlan, IA; Rev. Larry Svendsen and Rev. Steven Svendsen officiated. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, IA.

Survived by: Sons, Elliott (spouse, Ardis) Svendsen of Harlan, IA, Rev. Larry (spouse, Janice) Svendsen of Green Bay, WI, and Keith (spouse, Cheryl) Svendsen of Loveland, CO; daughter, Carol (spouse, John) Stoll of Coralville, IA; brother, Donald (spouse, JoAnn) Swensen of Bellevue, NE; sisters, Ina Carroll of Jewell, IA, Violet (spouse, Wayne) Fiscus of Harlan, IA, Mae Heileg of Elk Horn, IA, Ethel Dent of Springdale, AR, and Joy (spouse, Tom) Salmon of Colorado Springs, CO; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: parents, Christian and JoHanna (nee Jensen) Swensen; husband, Wilbert Svendsen (deceased March 17, 2002); brother, Norman “Rocky” Swensen; sister, Christina Johnson

Education: attended country school through Grade 8

Marriage: Wilbert Svendsen, Oct. 31, 1932, Botna, IA

Employment: Worked as a hired girl for area families before marriage; 1941-1961, farmed with spouse east of Kirkman, IA; later sold the farm and moved to Harlan. From 1964 to 1977, Dagny worked for the Harlan Community School’s lunch program, and served as the program director for several years.

Hobbies/Interests: member, Grace Baptist Church, Harlan, IA; previously a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School, and had served on the Women’s Missionary Fellowship. Dagny enjoyed crocheting afghans, traveling, and was a Harlan sports fan.
