Funeral services: Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Jacksonville, IA, with Pastor Ron Rasmussen officiated. Burial was in the Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville, IA.

Survived by: husband, Victor, of Harlan, IA; children Ken (spouse, Patsy Mayr) Hoogensen of West Des Moines, IA, Bob (spouse, Judy Swisher) Hoogensen of Harlan, IA, Vicki (spouse, MannyA) Salazar of Harlan, IA, and Linda Hoogensen Graff of West Des Moines,IA; brother, Harvey (spouse, Doris) Greve of Walnut, IA; sister Elaine Christoffersen of Kimballton, IA; sister-in-law Elaine Greve Hoffman of Avoca, IA; brother-in-law, Gilbert Hoogensen of Harlan, IA; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren: Jeff (spouse, Susan) Hoogensen of Marshalltown, IA; Jon (spouse, Angie), Jacob, Finn, and Laurel Hoogensen; Julie (spouse, Ted), Grace, Olivia, and Andrew Peelen all of West Des Moines, IA; Jennifer (spouse, Gregg) and Garrett Tiehen of Harrisburg, SD; and Steve (spouse, Kara), Kate and Mallory Hoogensen of Ankeny, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends

Predeceased by: parents, Peter J. and Alvina (nee Henriksen) Greve; brothers Elliot and Everett Greve, sisters-in-law Mabel Greve, Arlene Hoogensen, and Ginnie Greve, and brother-in-law Kenneth Christoffersen

Education: attended school at Jackson Township No.8 and Monroe Township No.1, graduating with honors from Grade 8 in 1935

Religious affiliation: Dorothy and Victor claimed they belonged to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville longer than any other couple because both were baptized and confirmed there. Was active in Luther League, the Women’s Organization, and was Superintendent of and a teacher for Sunday School.

Marriage: Victor Leo Hoogensen, Aug. 20, 1941, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Jacksonville, IA

Employment: After finishing the 8th grade, she went to work in many area homes and helped with the farming by driving the horses and tractors and milking cows; after marriage, they farmed on 3 different Jackson Township farms before retiring in 1980 and moving to Harlan, IA; spent 15 winters in AZ.

Hobbies/Interests: leader, Junior Mission Society and 4-H; enjoyed camping, entertaining, playing cards, writing poetry and skits, and sewing, having sewn many quilt tops for Lutheran World Relief
