Survived by: Son, Steven Barry of Defiance, IA; daughters, Gail (spouse, Dennis) Heinrichs of Auburn, IA, and Janet (spouse, Wade) Mintz of Henderson, NV; sister, Dorothy (spouse, Bill) Shannon of Harlan, IA; brother, Milton (spouse, Ruth Ann) Barry of Irwin, IA; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Military Service: United States Navy, serving on LST 457 in the South Pacific, including New Guinea, Philippines, and Australia; discharged 1946

Marriage: Marian T. Coenen, Dec. 30, 1948, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Defiance, IA

Employment: While in high school, worked on family farm and neighboring farms; returned to Irwin after military service and resumed farming until retirement in 1987

Hobbies/Interests: loved farming and raising cattle; after retirement, he continued to work in his yard and garden and, with spouse, enjoyed area dances and friends
