Funeral services: Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home, Harlan, IA; Rev. Diana Holland of Altamont Baptist Church in rural Shelby County, IA, officiated. Burial at Cuppy’s Grove Cemetery, rural Shelby County, IA.

Survived by: Children, Richard (spouse, Pat) Lee and Janet (spouse, Ric) Schneider, both of Avoca, IA, Dr. Robert (spouse, Liz) of Urbandale, IA, Marcia (spouse, Ken) Woodraska of Oelwein, IA, Carol (spouse, Pat) Keenan of Mason City, IA, and Raymond Lee of Council Bluffs, IA; son-in-law, Terry Schoening of Council Bluffs, IA; sister, Hazel (spouse, Dale) Bussow of Highlands Ranch, CO; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ann Carroll of Harlan, IA; brother-in-law, Dr. Roy Schultz of Avoca, IA; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends

Predeceased by: parents, Benjamin Harrison and Amanda Elizabeth (nee Nelson) Lee; wife, Bernice Lee (deceased June 26, 1995); infant sons, Larry Lee and Roger Lee; daughter, Nancy Schoening; grandson, Richard Lee, Jr.; brothers, Dale Lee and Kenneth “Bob” Lee; sister, Ethyl Lee

Education: rural Shelby County schools through Grade 9

Marriage: Bernice Mae Schultz, March 13, 1948, at the Presbyterian Church in Avoca, IA

Employment: Farming, at the family farm in Fairview Township, which was named a Century Farm in 1990; also did custom hay baling and corn shelling; in the 1970’s, operated Lee’s Lunch Wagon at area auctions; in the 1980’s, owned the Victoria Station restaurant in Harlan, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: With spouse, served as 4-H leaders when their children were growing up; enjoyed spending time with family, vacationing and camping; playing cards
