Last rites for Carl T. Bannister, 90, former Wilton mayor, were held in Davenport Nov. 10, 1989. The Wilton Masonic Lodge No. 167 conducted both the service at the chapel and the graveside service at Pine Hill cemetery, Davenport.

Mr. Bannister died at his home, 513 Sycamore, Wilton, Nov. 6.

Born in Scott county Nov. 25, 1898, he married Frances Baustian in Davenport Sept. 28, 1927.

He served Wilton as mayor and city council member. He was a past president of the Muscatine Men's Bowling association.

Mr. Bannister farmed in Scott county for 18 years and later worked for the Rock Island Arsenal. He was owner and operator of Midway Chevrolet in Wilton before retiring.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Wilton, a former member of the Davenport Consistory, the Mohassen Grotto and KAABA Shrine. He was a 50-year and life member of the Knights of Pythias and a member of the Moose Lodge in Davenport.

He is survived by his wife and several nieces and nephews.
