STARK OR STARKES

In Response To: Stark family (Vanessa)

I am seeking information on Susan Stark, born about 1877 in Mt. Ayr, Ringgold, Iowa. She was born to Martha Snelgrove and Henry Clay Stark. She married Rex Vernon Goble and had 3 childresn.

The issue I am running into is that I found a marriage license for Rex Vernon Goble to a woman names Susan Johnson, not Susan Stark.
On Ancestry when I look at the record for Martha Snellgrove, it shows that she had triplets - Lillie May, John W., and Susan R - all born in 1874. I found previous evidence that John W. was raised by another family and I am wondering if perhaps Susan Stark might have been raised by a family named Johnson, which is why the marriage record says Susan Johnson.

I personally have many, many DNA relatives from the children of Martha Snellgrove and Henry Clay Stark, but I just don't understand the piece about Susan Johnson showing up on the marriage record vs. Susan Stark. I even spoke with the granddaughter of Susan Stark (my mom's cousin) and she told me that she never knew Susan Stark to go by the name Johnson.

I'm really puzzled. Might anyone know what happened here?
