Mrs. Susan Yaryan, one of the highly respected old ladies of Knowlton, died at her home last Saturday morning, April 12, 1924.
Mrs. Yaryan had been in ill health for some time and her death was not unexpected.
Susan Harmon was born in Tuskervois County OH November 1, 1839 and passed away from this life at the home of her son in Knowlton at the age of 84.
When she was three years old she moved with her parents to Wapello County IA where she was united in marriage to John M Yaryan at Wapello, IA, on January 8, 1857. To this union were born seven children; two daughters, Katherine Hooker and Sadie Cliver, preceded her in death. The five children who survive are William Yaryan and Estella Hawley, Spokane, WA; Andrew and L E Yaryan of Knowlton, and John H. Yaryan of Diagonal.
Mr. & Mrs. Yaryan moved from Wapello to Ringgold County in 1866 and in 1867 they moved again, this time to Cherry county NE. Her husband preceded her in death, having passed away February 28, 1900. After the death of her husband she continued to live in Nebraska until 1910 when she moved back to Knowlton where she continued to reside until the time of her death.
Mrs. Yaryan united with the M.E. Church twelve years ago and later with the Nazarene church, of which organization she continued her membership until the time of her death. She was a devoted Christian, a loving mother and will be greatly missed by relatives and friends. Funeral serviced was conducted from the Knowlton Nazarene Chruch.
