OBITUARY ~ G. DOYLE MURPHY
June 15, 1939 ~ December 02, 2013

Doyle MURPHY was born June 15, 1939 in rural Redding, Iowa to Olin "Pat" E. MURPHY and Emma I. STILL. He graduated from Redding High School in 1959. Doyle never married and farmed with his father on the family farm for many years.

His mother Emma passed away when Doyle was two years old. Later his father Olin married Gladys GUTHRIE who was an excellent second mother to his six children.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two sisters, Dorothy BARBER and Marlene KELLER both of Mount Ayr; three sisters in-law, Anna MURPHY, Donna MURPHY and Beverly MURPHY all of Des Moines; many nieces and nephews.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Olin and Emma MURPHY; step-mother Gladys MURPHY; three brothers, Harold MURPHY, Robert MURPHY and Darrell MURPHY; two brothers in-law, Tob BARBER and Bob KELLER; grandparents, Mary and Leonard STILL and Ida and Asa MURPHY.

Services were held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Thursday, December 5, 2013, with Rev. Skip RUSHING officiating. Musical selections included "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Casket bearers were Carroll OLNEY, David STILL, Dale OLNEY, Bill QUICK, Joe OLNEY and Dan QUICK.

Burial was in the Redding Cemetery in Redding.

A memorial fund has been established to the Redding United Methodist Church.
