Mrs. Nancy Rush

Mrs. Aaron Rush, one of the earliest settlers of Ringgold County, died yesterday morning at 5:30 after a long illness. She has been very feeble and had required constant care and attention for over two years. She came to Mt. Ayr last fall and has been cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Martha Morris.
She was born Nancy Harmer, Feb. 10, 1829 in Monroe County NY, and died March 7, 1910.
In September 1847 she was married to Aaron Rush. They moved in 1849 to Fayette County IL, and later to McDonough County where they resided until the fall of 1865. They came to Ringgold County Iowa and located in Rice township.
To them were born 12 children: John R of Redding, James of Oklahoma, Grant of California, Sirastus Marion & Isaac of Middle Fork Township, Peter of Rice Township, Mrs. Martha Morris of Mt. Ayr, Mrs. John P (Loretta) Jordan of Middle Fork Township, Mrs. T J, (Ella Margaret) of Lemmon SD, Mrs. A W Elliott (Emma) of Rice Township, Mrs. M.W. (Narcissa) Withers of Des Moines, & Mrs. Frank M Jordan deceased.
Mrs. Rush has been a member of the Methodist church for many years and has lived a consistent Christian life. She will be remembered by all of the early settlers of this county.
Funeral will be held from the Middle Fork church by Rev. B F Miller. Interment in Middle Fork Cemetery.
