Sirastus Marion Rush

Sirastus Marion Rush, son of Aaron and Nancy Harmer Rush, was born Feb. 23, 1857 in McDonough County IL, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. J. Ballew at Boone, IA, Feb. 19, 1943.
He came to Iowa when a boy with his parents and settled in Middle Fork township where he grew to manhood and later established his own home.
On December 20, 1885 he was married to Margaret Geneva Anderson at Mt. Ayr IA. Three children came to gladden their lives: Friend, of Montana; Olive G Ballew of Boone, and Howard M. of Corydon. They established their home on a farm in Middle Fork Township where they lived until 1910 when they moved to Mt. Ayr. during the past ten years they have made their home with their daughter Olive at Boone and with Howard at Corydon. Mrs. Rush passed away October 17, 1942.
Besides the children he is survived by 3 grandchildren: Elaine Ballew, Donna Ashworth and Weldon Rush; two brothers, Peter and Isaac of Mt. Ayr, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Elliott and Mrs. Narcissus Withers of Mt. Ayr.
Early in life he, with his wife, united with the Eureka Methodist church, later transferring their membership to mt. Ayr. He was a faithful church member, a member of the official board for a number of years. His home and his church always came first in his interest and affection. His influence affected all who came in contact with him and he was loved and highly respected by all.
He was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery
