Heimke, Ruby Nadine Fletcher -
Ruby Nadine Heimke was born on June 27, 1917 at Preston, Missouri. She was the daughter of David Tandy and Sophronia Caroline (Strieker) Fletcher.
Ruby had lived in southwest Iowa most all of her adult life with Shannon City being her home for over 20 years. She loved crafts and had a passion for sewing. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Ruby enjoyed her pets--especially her dogs and watching her birds.
Ruby was united in marriage to Carrol C. Heimke on February 10, 1973. Ruby enjoyed good health until she was 67 and then she waged a strong a courageous battle with diabetes, strokes, and cancer.
After Carrol's untimely death on May 3, 1996 Ruby moved to the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, IA. Ruby died on September 8, 1998 at the Clearview Home.
Preceding Ruby in death were her parents, her husband Carrol, as well as several brothers and sisters.
Ruby is survived by her children Karen Warren of Palmer, AK, Clifford Gildow of Phoenix, AZ, Jimmy D. Ruddick of Des Moines, IA and Jerry C. Ruddick of Florida; grandchildren Mike Gute of San Jose, CA, Jim Gute of Steator, IL and Elaine Ruddick of Wenatchee, WA.
Funeral services were in the Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Thursday, September 10, 1998 with the Rev. Alan Rusk officiating. Nancy Sackett, Mary Trullinger, Margaret Bickers and Vince Gill provided music. The musical selections were "Go Rest High On That Mountain," and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers were Joe Routh, Larry Oshel, Gary Pitman, Harold Bower, Bryan Miller, Larry Denney, and Charles Hawkins.
Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City.
