OBITUARY ~ DAVID LYLE JOBE

David Lyle JOBE, son of George F. and Linnie JOBE, was born March 29, 1912, at Adams, Nebraska, and departed this life May 20, 1960, in the Des Moines General Hospital He lived most of his life in Iowa, except for four years spent in service with the U.S. Navy.

On February 26, 1935, he was united in marriage to Genevieve Marie LOCKWOOD, and to this union were born five children - Elizabeth Jean MILLER, James Edward, Judith Elaine WOOD, Jerry David and Virginia Lynn.

Mr. JOBE was a man who loved his family and his work. He was a member of the Lions Club, president of the Tingley school board and mayor of Tingley.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, John Arthur, Sydney, Tilden and Harvey Ray, two sisters, Hazel BUTLER and Gladys Lucrete JOBE.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; three daughters; two sons; a daughter-in-law, Glenda JOBE; two sons-in-law, Charles MILLER and Gregory WOOD; three grandchildren, Cindy Jean and Tammy MILLER and Michael WOOD, whom he dearly loved; two sisters, Mrs. Helen BROWN and Lucille DOWNING and two brothers, Harold and Paul JOBE.

Funeral services were held May 22 from the Methodist church in Tingley, conducted by the Rev. Willis GRANT. Mrs. M. H. OBERMEIER sang, accompanied by Margaret EIGHME, and casketbearers were Wm. HALM, Rolla ASHENHURST, Lawrence JOHNSON, Carl RIGGS, Billy BRECKENRIDGE and Russell BOYD. Honorary casket bearers were Glen NICHOLS, Virgil BADGEROW, Walter LAMB, Gerald JONES, David STUCK, Joseph MOREN, Joseph SHIELDS, Edgar HARGER, Cecil Mercer and Don KINNE [co-workers]. Interment was in the Tingley Cemetery.

In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David L. JOBE, superintendent of the Grand River Limestone Co.'s quarry at the site near Allendale, MO.

Dave, 48 years of age, served his country with the navy during World War II, and had been a faithful employee of the Grand River Limestone Co. for almost fourteen years. He loved his work at the quarry.

He was a person who met life's challenges and mastered from them. Dave was a hard worker and never gave up, for his life and all of life were to him a challenge. He fought on and was still fighting for his life when he slipped away in the early morning hours on May 20, 1960.

There was something big and fine about Dave which everyone liked down deep in his heart. He was a tireless worker and his achievements and success were his own. He gained much satisfaction from a job well done, an attribute to which he aspired throughout his lifetime.

Dave was skilled with his hands and his skill was exemplified in the home and shop he had erected in Tingley, which community he called home. He was interested in civic and community affairs and one of the highlights of his life was when the people of Tingley expressed their faith in him by electing him mayor. He also served as a member of the school board and was a charter member of the Tingley Lions Club.

We deem it a great privilege to have counted Dave as friend and fellow-worker.

Our deepest sympathy is extended to his good wife, children, grandchildren and other loved ones.
