OBITUARY ~ CHARLES L. HORNE

Charles Law, son of Dr. and Mrs. William HORNE, was born June 1, 1887, in Ringgold county, Iowa, and departed this life March 31, 1960, in his home in Mount Ayr.

In 1908, he graduated from the Mount Ayr High School and for two years attended Iowa State College in Ames.

For approximately four years he managed a lumberyard in Redding for the I. J. DALBEY Lumber Company. While a resident of Redding, he was united in marriage with Marian BACHMAN, on April 2, 1913, and to this union was born a son, Charles William.

In 1917, the family moved to Mount Ayr, where he entered the employ of the H. H. WILSON Co. Following the death of Mr. WILSON, Mr. HORNE became a partner of the LIGGETT Brothers in the grocery business. In 1927, he purchased the hardware business of C. R. KEATING, in which trade he continued until his death.

He served three two-year terms as a member of the town concul. In 1822 (sic), he untied with the United Presbyterian Church, was a faithful member and served in various offices.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Otto HORNE.

Survivors are his widow, Marian; son, William; a daughter-in-law, Barbara; two grandchildren, Ann and Charles Lonnie; a sister, Mrs. F. E. SHELDON, of Saratoga, Calif, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Chapel in Mount Ayr, conducted by the Rev. Orville RINEHART, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
