She was united in marriage with Deane SICKELS on Jan. 21, 1939 at Creston, Iowa. Of this unin three children were born, Raymond, Alice and Alvin.

Lucille was a member of the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr, joining Oct. 20, 1957.

She was employed in the lunchroom at Mount Ayr Community School for 18 years until she was forced to retire after suffering a heart attack.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Deane, and her three children, Raymond and wife Sue of Indianola; Alice HANSEN of Evanston, Ill. and Alvin and wife Jane of Indianola; her grandchildren, James HANSEN, United States Marine Corps, Okinawa, Japan; Eric, Chris, Annette, Mark, Leslie, Emily SICKELS and Jeffrey HANSEN; one sister and two brothers, Leta and husband, Bernard SULLIVAN, Mount Ayr, Irvin and Ardis JONES of Des Moines and Cleo JONES of Des Moines; also many relatives and a host of friends who will miss her.

Lucille took great pride and pleasure in her eight grandchildren and their activities.

She was a friend to all who knew her and was especially close to Dale JARRED, her friend for over 35 years.

Weep not that her toils are over,
Weep not that her race is won,
God grant we may rest as calmy
When our work, like hers, is done.

Therefore we yield with gladness
Our loved one for Him to keep
And rejoice in His sweet assurance
He giveth his loved one sleep.

Oh, He walked with her on the hillsides,
And told her she was His own,
And the sweetest promise He gave her,
"I will never leave you alone."

Pastors Phil and Doris KINTON conducted a funeral service held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 1982 at the Mount Ayr First Christian Church. Music was provided by organist Mike GREENE and vocalists Mrs. Jim JONES and Mrs. Robert FISHER.

Casketbearers were Bob SICKELS, John SICKELS, Larry SICKELS, Daryl HOLDEN, Maurice HUNT and Gene MOTSINGER. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
