OBITUARY ~ OCIE PEARL (MILLER) SCHLAPIA

Ocie Pearl, daughter of Charles T. and Rachel CLARK MILLER, was born February 22, 1895, and departed this life at the age of 94 years and four days.

She was married to Floyd D. SCHLAPIA on December 3, 1913, at Benton, Iowa. To this union were born six children: Dale, Laveta, Thelma, Russel, Fay and Kay.

She was a member of the Clearfield Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary of Clearfield. She spent her life in the communities of Benton, Clearfield, and the Platte Center area near Creston.

Trips around the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, were experiences she thoroughly enjoyed.

Ocie is the last member of her family, having been preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; husband, Floyd; son, Russell, and son-in-law, Walter STRANGE.

She is survived by her children: Floyd Dale and wife Maralyn of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Ocie Laveta STRANGE of Diagonal, Iowa, Thelma Helen SCHLAPIA of Boulder, Colorado, daughter-in-law, Mary Lou SCHLAPIA of Boulder, Colorado, Viola Fay MATHER and husband, Dale, of Tucson, Arizona, and Viona Kay DOTSON and husband Lee of Phoenix, Arizona. Also, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 1, 1989, from the First Christian Church at Clearfield, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Shirley LOCKARD. Music was provided by Mrs. Earl GAULE, Mrs. Harold NELSON and Mrs. Richard SPURRIER.

Casketbearers were Derek SCOTT, David SCOTT, Duane DREDGE, Larry PARKER, Eldon STRANGE and ROger SCHLAPIA. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield, Iowa.
