OBITUARY ~ ANSEL LEE SAVILLE

Ansel Lee SAVILLE was the youngest child and only son born to Elmer Lee and Fannie Bell (SIMPSON) SAVILLE. He was born at their farm home east of Redding on the twenty-second of May, 1910. After completing grade school at Rose Hill, he entered high school at Redding in 1924. He was graduated from there as valedictorian of his class in 1928.

On March 17, 1934, he and Ila SUTHERLAND were married by T. S. RHOADES in the RHOADES home. They made their first home close to his parents for two years before moving to their farm home east of Blockton. It was there that they raised their two sons, Wendell Lee and Doyle Dean. In 1945 they welcomed into their home a niece, Wilberta SUTHERLAND.

They moved to a samll acreage at the edge of Blockton in 1974, where they continued to reside, and where he died suddenly the morning of February 26, 1985.

Ansel was a lifetime farmer; the was a member of the Ringgold County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the board of the Blockton Housing Corp. In his later years he remained active with mechanical and woodworking projects. He loved to make and repair things for his family and friends. He was happy to help anyone in whatever way he could. A member of the First Baptist in Mount Ayr, he created a good Christian home for his children and grandchildren.

Ansel was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bertha ABARR.

Left to grieve his passing are his wife, Ila May; his sons, Wendall and his wife Roberta of Ellensburg, wA, and Doyle and his wife Jane of Bedford; six grandchildren: Craig and Kevin of Ellensburg, WA, Stephanie and her husband Randy HOSFIELD of Diagonal, Michelle, Timothy and Jennifer of Beford; a niece and her husband, Wilberta and Buford WEDDLE of Hopkins, MO, and their children: Lanney, of Hopkins, Joy Lynn of Aurora, CO, Brenda Kay of Leavenworth, KS, and Clint of Hopkins, MO.

He is also survived by one sister, Elsie GALLOWAY of Redding, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The following poem was written by Ansel's youngest granddaguhter, Jennifer Lee, the day before he passed away:

My Grandparents

First comes Grandpa, who is so sweet and kind.
Then comes Grandma, who gives me all her time.
I love them so very much -
and I hope they love me too.
And that's why I'm so glad they are mine!
