OBITUARY - FOREST EDWARD KLINE

Forest Edward, oldest son of John Harmon and Bertha Marlenee KLINE, was born in Guthrie county, Iowa, Jan. 21, 1900. He passed away at Greater Community hospital [Creston, Iowa], Sept. 23, 1960, after a three weeks illness following surgery, at the age of 60 years, 8 months and 2 days.

He was united in marriage to Ava REED of Clearfield on Nov. 23, 1924. To this union were born two children, Reed of Creston, and Ava Jean -- Mrs. Laurence WEIS of Afton.

He lived in Guthrie county until 1909 when the family purchased a farm in Lincoln township, Union county. He farmed with his father until 1922 and then worked as a mechanic for eight years in Creston and Lenox. In 1930 he again took up farming in Union county and in 1943 purchased a farm in Ringgold county, where he and his family resided until 1951 when he bought a home in Tingley. He continued to farm his land until the past two years. He began blue grass harvesting in 1952 and continued in this business until the time of his death.

Forest was a loyal and devoted son and brother, a kind and understanding husband and father. Everyone who met "Frosty" was his friend and understandably so, for he always saw the good in people, was never critical and was always ready to lend a helping hand and give encouragement.

He leaves to mourn his untimely death his devoted wife, his son and daughter, a daughter-in-law, son-in-law and six grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; four brothers and five sisters -- Mrs. Lyle (Amanda) TYLER, Afton; Mrs. Perry (Marie) BOLTON, Creston; Floyd, Creston; Fay, Creston; Mrs. Keith (Louise) MATHERS, Creston; Homer, Algona; Mrs. H. E. (Emma) OLSEN, San Leandro, Calif.; Paul, Afton; Mrs. Charles (Maxine) CRAWFORD, Des Moines; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 26, 1960, at the Tingley Methodist church with Rev. Willis GRANT officiating. Russell Henry sang the Lord's Prayer accompanied by Mrs. Francis SMITH. Burial was in the Tingley cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Clarence WEEDA, Harris HILL, Darrell WERNER, Loren IBBOTSON, Lloyd NEALIS, and Larry RYAN. Honorary pallbearers were Dean JOHNSON, Rollo ASHENHURST, Carl RIGGS, Les McCLURE, Lawrence JOHNSON, Harry ARCHIBOLD, LeGrande MILLER and William S. BRECKENRIDGE.
