OBITUARY - ADELINE (MILLER) CONLEY DAVENPORT

Adeline MILLER was born Mar. 26, 1869 in Illinois and departed this life Nov. 4, 1930 at the age of 63 years 7 months and 8 days.

When but a small child she moved with her parents to Iowa and almost her entire lifetime has been spent in this and the Knowlton communities.

She was married Aug 20, 1885 to Wesley W. CONLEY and to this union five children were born, two sons and three daughters, the two sons and one daughter as well as the husband preceded her in death many years ago.

She was married to Goldman DAVENPORT in 1912 he having passed away March 2, 1917. Mrs. Davenport had lived in the Christian faith the greater part of her life. Many years ago she became a member of the Church of Christ, later she and her husband united with the Fairview Methodist Episcopal Church and when she came to Diagonal she affiliated with Wesleyan Methodist.

She has completed a life time of service for her children and was even ready at all times to extend a helping hand to those whom it was possible for her to aid.

Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs. Stella (Chas.) WATTS of Knowlton, Iowa, and Mrs. George THOMAS of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren also four sisters, Mrs. Ida Ann GROVES of Bethany, Missouri and Mrs. Viola ATKINSON of Clarinda, Iowa besides many other more distant relatives and a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at the Diagonal Methodist Episcopal Church Rev. J. E. MATHENY in charge. Interment at Knowlton [Centenary] Cemetery.
