OBITUARY - PETER M. CASE

Peter Marchall CASE was born in Indiana, March 7th, 1848, and at the age of five years moved with his parents to Ringgold county, Iowa. January 29, 1873 [Lucas County, Iowa], he was united in holy matrimony to Margaret Elender WRAY and to this union four sons were born, all of whom are living. They are Jacob M. and Arthur G., who are farmers in Custer county [NE], Luth and Guy, both of whom are Salvation Army officers living in Peoria, Ill., and Pueblo, Colorado. In 1888 he moved with his family to Nebraska, locating in Custer county on the farm near Weissert, where he made his home until his death. His wife was taken to her eternal reward December 10, 1893 and after four years Mr. CASE was married to Mrs. Alice J. BANES. To this union two children were born, Rosetta who died while young and Minnie, who with her mother survive him.

Mr. CASE's religious life was the outstanding feature of his long career; converted as a young man, energetic to serve his God and walk in the light he pressed his way through to the experience of perfection, commonly called sanctification. He remained true to his convictions and experiences to the day of his death. He heeded the call to the ministry while young, but owing to poor health, he was not able to carry out all of this work. He was given an exhorter's license in the Methodist church, retaining same until death.

His last illness was very brief. having been taken seriously ill with pneumonia only one week prior to his demise and being too weak to cope with the disease he passed to his eternal reward Wednesday evening, April 4th, 1923, aged seventy-five years and twenty-seven days.

Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Alice J. CASE, his four sons, Jacob M., Luther S., Arthur G., and Guy W. and one daughter, Minnie May, six step-children, Frank, Ralph and; Henry BARNES, Mrs. Bertie WARD, Mrs. Ora PIRNIE, Mrs. Lizzie HOPKINS; two bothers, William and Lincoln CASE; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah PITTMAN and Martha KIRBY.

Interment at Lone Tree Cemetery, Weissert, Custer County, Nebraska; Gravestone inscription, "'Father', 1848-1923, 'Mother', 1850-1893; 'Remember kind friends as you pass by, As you are now so once was I, As I am now you soon will be - Prepare for death and follow me.'"
