FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR G. FRED TRIMBLE

Funeral services for G. Fred TRIMBLE, brief mention of whose death was made in the Record-News last week, were held at the Methodist church Friday, March 17.

A large crowd of friends, including 39 policemen with whom Mr. TRIMBLE had served, and a delegation from the United Brethern church of Des Moines, attended the funeral.

Police officers and members of the police force, who attended the services, were: Chief ALBER, Lieutenant PASTEL, Captain EKLUND, Sergeant RAYBURN, Sergeant MABEE; Patrolmen BEARDSLEY, BROPHY, BROWN, CAREY, CLAYMAN, CRAWFORD, CROSS, DAWSON, DeBONIS, GREGORY, KELLY, LEE, McCLELLAND, MILES, PEARCE, RAYMSEY, SEWARD, SOMMERS, McCLANAHAN; Detectives CHRISTIANSEN, DENNY, DUNAGAN, EMRICH, FRITZPATRICK (sic), GAGEN, MAHAFFEY, MILLER, ROUTT, SILLICK, WALKER; pensioned offiers, Geo. McMICKLE, Wm. ALLEN, Joe NEWELL and Chas. PIERCE.

The services were conducted by Rev. E. T. SHAFER, of Des Moines, who was assisted by the local pastor of the Methodist church, Rev. E. S. MENOHER. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery [Mount Ayr].

The following obituary was read at the services:

G. Fred TRIMBLE, son of Geo. W. and Melcena TRIMBLE, was born February 10, 1875, at Bedford, Iowa, and departed this life March 14, 1933, at the home of Mrs. Mary KELLEY near Mount Ayr, Iowa, aged 58 years, one month and four days.

When eight years of age he came with his parents to Ringgold county, residing on a farm, where he grew to manhood.

He was married to Alice CLAYTON April 21, 1897. They resided on a farm for three years then moving to Des Moines, Iowa, which retained his residence until his death.

In 1907 he was appointed to the police department, serving in that capacity continuously for almost 23 years. Beginning as a patrolman, he filled almost every position in the department, retiring as assistant chief. Much of the time he served in the secret service department.

He was a member of the United Brethern church, also a member of the Masonic lodge.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, four brothers, T. W. TRIMBLE of Bedford, Iowa, Frank TRIMBLE of Mount Ayr, Doss TRIMBLE of Minneapolis, Minn., and Jack TRIMBLE of Compton, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Anna STIVING, of Mount Ayr, besides a host of relatives and friends.
