OBITUARY - ESTA M. (POOR) TORRENCE

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Esta M. TORRENCE, 103, of Muscatine, died on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Lutheran Homes of Muscatine.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday, May 3 at the Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. The Rev. Tom ZELENY will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist Kathy LUETHYE and vocalist Henry BENTLEY. Casket bearers will be Stephen FUNDERBURK, Owen SMITH, Rob SMITH, Jerry POOR, George HAHN and Barb SMITH. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 2 at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church, Wilton.

Esta M. POOR was born on October 1, 1900, to Willie and Maude (OGLE) POOR in Mount Ayr. She married S. Leslie TORRENCE on April 24, 1925 in St. Charles. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1970.

Esta was a member of the United Methodist Church, Wilton and enjoyed crocheting, reading and gardening.

Survivors include a son, James (and his wife Peggy) TORRENCE of Surprise, Ariz.; a sister, Mary MONTGOMERY of Indianola; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Esta was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Jack TORRENCE; 3 sisters, Marge OLSON, Eloise RESBERG, Nellie MIDDLETON and 2 brothers, John POOR, Homer POOR.
