OBITUARY.

Died, on Monday, Dec. 11, 1893, at the home of her son O. A. WILKINSON in Poe township, Ringgold county, Iowa, Mrs. Mary THOMPSON, aged 62 years, 8 months and 6 days. Mrs. THOMPSON's maiden name was Mary REED, and she was born in Beaver county, Pa., April 5, 1831. Here she spent her girlhood and enjoyed the excellent religious training peculiar to that period in western Pennsylvania. She united early with the United Presbyterian church, and has ever lived a consistent christian life. She was first married to Joseph WILKINSON, of Allegheny county, Pa., to whom were born four children, three sons and one daughter. Two of the sons survive her and were with her at the time of her death. In 1883 she was married to Joseph P. THOMPSON of Beaver county, Pa. In 1890 she was again left a widow. She returned to Ringgold county, and has these last years made her home with her two sons. Her piety was of the gentle and unobtrusive kind, which won the confidence of all. That she was a christian woman no one questioned. As a neighbor and friend she was kind and thoughtful of the comfort and happiness of others. As a mother she was patient, kind and wisely indulgent. She was patient in affliction, even unto the end. The funeral took place from the United Presbyterian church at Mt. Ayr on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1893, and was conducted by her pastor Rev. H. T. JACKSON preaching from Phil. 1:21, "and to die is gain." Her's was indeed a christian hope and burial [at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr].
