DIED.

Sarah L. SWARTSWOOD (sic) died May 20th, 1888, aged 68 years, and 11 months. The deceased was born in Tompkins county, New York. For forty years she had been a member of the M. E. church, dying in the triumph of faith. Another has gone home where the wicked cease from troubling, and the weary are at rest. The funeral sermon was preached by the writer to a large circle of friends and neighbors. She was interred in the Bethel cemetery.

NOTE: Sarah Louisa (McALLASTER) SWARTWOOD was born in April 1819. She married Dr. Peter McMilliam SWARTWOOD who was born in Newfield, Tompkins County, New York on June 1st 1815 [1816 according to his obituary], and died on January 4, 1889 in Ringgold County, Iowa. Dr. Peter and Sarah SWARTWOOD were interred at Bethel Cemetery near Diagonal, Ringgold County, Iowa. Of Dr. Peter McMilliam and Sarah Louisa (McALLASTER) SWARTWOOD's children:
Elvira L. SWARTWOOD was born on March 14, 1843, and died January 10, 1893; Alonzo D. SWARTWOOD was born January 22, 1845, and died November 23, 1906, the husband of Ida who was born April 25, 1854 and died August 20, 1918. All interments were at Bethel Cemetery near Diagonal, Ringgold County, Iowa. Luella M. SWARTWOOD was also a daughter.
